The Sense of An Ending by Julian Barnes

163 pages
2 hours

Just a wonderfully written book!  Couldn't stop reading it so I finished it in one sitting.

Observations:

1.  There is a great deal of pleasure in reading a novel when the author has taken the time to craft each word.  I feel as if Barnes has given me a personal gift.
2.  Why is it that the only books in which I have come across the word susurrus have been written by British authors?
3.  Despite my enjoyment of this novel, the ending was unsettling and I didn't like that.  I'm aware of the fact that Barnes must have wanted it that way but it still bothers me.
